About Houdini
Houdini is a gorgeous, fluffy boy with a big personality and some very strong feelings about humans!
Having lived as part of a cat colony, Houdini hasnāt yet decided that people are his cup of tea. Heās frightened, defensive and very good at letting you know when he wants his space, often greeting people with a hiss.
Despite his tough exterior, his carer reports that he has not attempted to attack them. Houdini is a scared boy who would rather keep his distance than accept handling, and he needs a home that understands and respects this.
He is a beautiful cat, but heās not currently looking to be someoneās lap cat.
What kind of home would suit Houdini?
Houdini would be best suited to a secure, well-managed barn or rural property with appropriate shelter, reliable food and fresh water, veterinary care and a caregiver who understands the needs of less-socialised cats.
He needs an environment where he can feel safe without being pressured into human interaction. Any placement must provide proper protection from the elements, predators, traffic and other hazards, with a safe settling-in area and a plan to prevent him from wandering off.
An experienced person willing to work patiently with him may be able to help him build confidence over time, but there should be no expectation that he will become an affectionate house cat.
Could you offer Houdini a place to belong?
Houdini deserves a safe life that suits his needs. For the right person and property, he could be a wonderful candidate for a working or managed barn-cat placement.
He gets along well with Whisper, the other cat from his colony. Weād love for them to be considered together if a suitable home comes along, but this isnāt a requirement.
If you have an appropriate property and experience caring for timid cats, please contact Hills Cat Rescue to discuss whether Houdini could be a suitable match.
Not every cat wants to live on a couch. Sometimes finding the right home means giving a cat the space to simply be a cat. š¤
